A dynamic Irvine-based law firm specializing in business litigation, employment disputes, and complex commercial matters seeks an experienced Business Litigator to join its team. This role involves handling high-stakes cases, including breach of contract, intellectual property disputes, and insurance coverage litigation, while collaborating with clients to deliver strategic solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in litigation, a commitment to client advocacy, and a passion for resolving intricate legal challenges.

  • Base Salary: $155,000+ DOE
  • Discretionary Bonus: $1500 for each 100 hours billed ($27,000 for 1800 hours)
  • Origination Bonus: 10% of Gross Fees collected on new clients

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Case Management:

  • Lead litigation strategy for business disputes, including pre-trial motions, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda in state and federal courts.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediations or arbitrations.

 

Client Collaboration:

  • Advise businesses on risk mitigation and compliance with commercial laws.
  • Communicate case progress and legal implications to clients clearly and proactively.

 

Research & Compliance:

  • Conduct legal research on evolving business laws, including employment regulations and insurance coverage.
  • Ensure adherence to procedural rules and deadlines in litigation.

 

Team Coordination:

  • Work closely with paralegals, investigators, and experts to build robust cases.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to firm-wide knowledge sharing.

 

Qualifications

 

Education & Credentials:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to the California Bar.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in business disputes, employment law, or intellectual property.

 

Skills:

  • Proven success in trial advocacy, motion practice, and settlement negotiations.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to distill complex issues for clients.
