Associate Attorney – Public Entity Defense

A California-based law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Encino office. This opportunity is open to attorneys ranging from first-year associates through experienced practitioners, with exceptional legal writing and analytical skills being the most important qualifications.

This is a writing-intensive litigation position involving:

• Drafting motions, briefs, and appellate filings
• Conducting legal research and analysis
• Handling administrative hearings and bench trials
• Managing employment and public entity litigation matters
• Working directly with clients
• Collaborating with attorneys while maintaining ownership of assignments

The firm provides early responsibility and hands-on litigation experience while offering mentorship and support as attorneys develop their practice. Attorneys have the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful assignments while working closely with experienced colleagues.

Ideal candidates will have experience or interest in civil litigation, labor and employment, law and motion practice, or appeals. Senior candidates should ideally have experience litigating matters involving government entities. Candidates must also be comfortable representing and working with law enforcement officers and other public employees.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar membership in good standing
• Strong legal writing and analytical skills

Compensation

• 0 years: $115,000–$125,000
• 3+ years: $125,000–$175,000
• 1,800-hour billable expectation
• Tiered billable bonuses, origination bonus, on-call bonus, and year-end bonus
